My long and
windy road ...
Frustration
I have done a lot with my undergraduate nursing degree– from working in a hospital, to prenatal education, to medical advertising.
But I was always a bit frustrated.
There was no time to connect to people, little time to educate them, and even less time to prevent future illnesses.
It felt like I was spinning my wheels. So, I took a very long break from the wellness field.
Confusion
It was during COVID, that I looked around and saw how many of us (myself included) were struggling with our health. Everyone was (understandably) eating sourdough and drinking wine and feeling icky. But the thing is, I wasn’t. I was actually doing the opposite, and yet I was exhausted and stressed, and it felt like I got injured every time I was on (what I thought was) a good exercise routine.
I knew something had changed, but I didn't really understand what, and I definitely had no idea how to fix it.
So, I did what any good nurse would do. I dove into the research. As I read, I started to understand that what my body needed had shifted. And, more importantly. I began to understand what I could do to help myself feel better. I decided to start with a few basic changes. And, as often happens, one small change led to another...
Small changes
🥦 I started eating real, plant-based food. Yes… This still included some dark chocolate.
🍷 I stopped drinking alcohol. This was a lot harder than this one little sentence sounds… until it wasn’t.
😴 I prioritized sleep. I have no idea how I used to function as a new mom or working nights with so little sleep. Seriously. Consistent sleep makes such a difference.
🧘🏻♀️ I started a daily meditation practice. I am still trying to figure out why it is so hard just to sit still, but I also think it just might be the answer to everything.
🏋🏻♀️ I started lifting weights. Consistently. With a plan to get stronger. And I love it.
And, ultimately, that is what led me here.
Now I am a Nationally Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach with additional certifications in perimenopause & menopause. I am a certified Personal Trainer with specializations in women’s fitness and bone health. And I am a Certified Sports Nutrition Coach.
And, most importantly, I get it. I’ve been there. I am there. And, I'm not special.
Anyone can do it - once we learn what our body needs, we can learn how to create consistent habits that work. It's easier than it sounds.
I have to say- it feels good to focus on holistic health again ... even if I took the scenic route.

Other fun facts about me ...
I grew up near farms and then lived in NYC for years. I am forever searching for a place that offers the best of both worlds.
My favorite object is my Kindle -- the one with the light that turns off on its own. I fall asleep with it every night and love that I never lose my page.
My husband and I quit our jobs and backpacked around the world ... when we were 30. Spoiler alert... it all worked out.
I learned to SCUBA, and I learned I hate it.
I tried (and failed) to climb Mt Fuji.
My first marathon was Marathon Du Medoc in Bordeaux, France. Runners wear costumes and they offer wine tasting every few miles. It is said to be "the longest marathon in the world." (Yes, my running days are way behind me. And, that's okay.)
I live in the suburbs of NYC with my husband, Rob, and our cat, Quesa Dia. We try to escape to the mountains to hike and/or bike whenever we can. And, if we can entice our 3 (grown) kids to join us, it's a perfect day. ❤️
